Squeeze headline Saturday at Looe Music Festival 2014

Formed in London, Squeeze exploded onto the music scene with their second album ‘Cool For Cats’, in 1979, cementing their place as one of Britain’s most important young bands of the time. Featuring the classic single ‘Up The Junction’ as well as the title track, it was many listeners’ first introduction to the witty kitchen-sink lyricism and new-wave guitar music that has become the band’s trademark. With albums ‘Argybargy’ and the Elvis Costello-produced ‘East Side Story’, Squeeze made waves across the pond, with Paul Carrack later replacing Jools Holland, going on to lend his unmistakeable vocals to the smash hit ‘Tempted’. Here’s Cool for Cats: Today Squeeze are still making their mark with top popsters including Mark Ronson, Kasabian, Supergrass, Lily Allen, The Feeling and Razorlight citing them as amongst their biggest influences. And on Saturday 20th September they’ll join the other 89 bands across five stages for three days of ‘Slap and Tickle’ Cornish party style.
