Pandora now owns Next Big Sound

Pandora has been busy in court attempting to fight off higher royalty rates. Meanwhile, they’ve had their eye on more than just small radio stations… Pandora has purchased music analytics service Next Big Sound. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed. NBS says they will continue to operate as usual, but the service will be added to Pandora’s Artist Marketing Platform. Pandora wants the AMP to be a leading tool for artists, labels, managers, publishers, and brands. The Rolling Stones have played a warm-up show at LA’s 1200 capacity Fonda Theatre in Hollywood.The Stones promised to play every song from the Sticky Fingers album and they did as well as a tribute to BB King with ‘Rock Me Baby’.‘We’re gonna do a bit of a tribute to BB King who was a hero of ours. An accomplished singer-songwriter and producer based in Sheffield called Kyla will release her latest single “Beautiful U” on KYPO Records on 29th June. DJs and producers including Liquid, Klubfiller, Andy Whitby, Andy Littlewood and Max Porcelli have used songs written by Kyla, who also provided the vocals. For Max Porcelli, she wrote and featured on Give Us Thunder, released on 12 inch vinyl and digitally by 989 Records. Kyla’s track Under Your Spell was on The Sound of Hardcore in 2009, which reached number 4 in the compilation chart. Amongst other writing and session work for other artists, Kyla wrote and featured on Klubfiller’s track On A Cloud, which featured on Clubland Extreme Hardcore and also Summer of Love for Fretman & Darwin, which featured on Hardcore Underground 4. She also features on Liquid Vs Billy Daniel Bunter and Sparky’s Movin’ To The Beat and Everything’s Alright, named on the track alongside Andy Whitby, Klubfiller and Cally Gage. Michael Push is a London based pop dance house DJ, producer and music artist who grew up in a small town in Sardinia, Italy. As a child, Michael took up singing and playing keyboards, which lead to him being accepted into Italy’s biggest music school. The release of “Freeze” featuring Moonfish on Restylers Records in 2012 saw Michael enter the mainstream. DJ Mag Italia featured Michael on their DJ’s Got Talent Page. Michael writes and produces his own music and is influenced by current pop and club music. His energetic tracks combine romantic lyrics and choruses with powerful beats in the pop-house, tech-house and minimal techno dance genres. “Freeze” reached number 3 in MTV’s Top 10 Dance Chart, between J.Lo and Madonna. The single was later licensed to the Disco Wax label in Norway, Denmark, Finland and Sweden. Errol Brown has passed away at the age of 71. The musician is best known as the frontman of British soul band Hot Chocolate, which produced hits such as You Sexy Thing, So You Win Again and Brother Louie. Errol battled liver cancer and perished from the disease at his home, his manager Phil Dale informed BBC News. “Errol Brown MBE passed away in The Bahamas this morning with his wife Ginette and daughters Colette and Leonie by his side of liver cancer,” Phil informed the outlet. “Errol was a lover of life and obviously ‘music!’ I never went into his home, car or a hotel room without music playing. “Errol was a ‘Gentle Man’ and was a personal friend of mine who will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. His greatest legacy is that his music will live on!” Since Hot Chocolate’s inception in 1969, the group has climbed the charts in over 50 countries with their singles. Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones has teamed with Nick Mason of Pink Floyd for the song ‘Listen Into Your Heart’ to raise funds for Nepal earthquake victims.The lead vocal for the song is soul singer Beverly Knight with Mick and Ronnie on backing vocals. The song was produced by Matt Clifford, produced by Nick Mason and recorded at Abbey Road Studios. In a statement Beverly Knight said, ‘The terrible events in Nepal show just how vulnerable our fellow man can be in the face of nature. My hope is that the proceeds of this song will go some way to help raise urgently needed funds to repair homes and restore lives.’Proceeds from ‘Listen Into Your Heart’ will go to Save The Children’s Nepal Earthquake Appeal.
