When Italian singer-songwriter Erene Mastrangeli heard the news of the tragic mass shooting at Pulse nightclub, in Orlando, FL on June 12th, 2016, time stopped and devastation set in. At the time, what had taken place at Pulse was the deadliest shooting in U.S. history, and it targeted her community, the LGTBQ community, directly, fatally and intentionally. She was practicing for a show when she heard the news. She stopped everything. She didn’t know what to do with herself, but she felt like a hole had opened up in the center of her body: like something went missing.
