Kes was born in South Africa during Apartheid and then her parents decided to flee the country and raise the family in rural England, having experienced many life-threatening situations. Subsequently, after the London bombings in 2005, Kes moved to Norwich and played the local scene in her family band Fuzzballs, solo gigs as Kes C, in cover bands and as a wedding singer. Kes C now lives in Shropshire. Growing up surrounded by a musical family, Kes listened to blues and soul and wrote her first song on guitar aged 12. She sung in school choirs and landed lead parts in musicals, then moved to London aged 18 to pursue her musical career. Michael Benjamin is a British Nigerian singer-songwriter, musician and producer, known for his music as Mikejab, who has released a new dance single ‘I As A Man’. To date Mikejab has worked across a wide variety of musical genres with many different artists. Michael started out as the lead singer in youth group, The Black Berets and then returned to concentrate on his school education. As a sound engineer, Mikejab has mixed and mastered many popular dance tracks in both Europe and Nigeria. Mikejab is known in the dance music community as the creator of a new music genre called AfroDance incorporating dance music and African percussive and rhythmic sounds. Michael Push is a London based pop dance house DJ, producer and music artist who grew up in a small town in Sardinia, Italy. As a child, Michael took up singing and playing keyboards, which lead to him being accepted into Italy’s biggest music school. The release of “Freeze” featuring Moonfish on Restylers Records in 2012 saw Michael enter the mainstream. DJ Mag Italia featured Michael on their DJ’s Got Talent Page. Michael writes and produces his own music and is influenced by current pop and club music. His energetic tracks combine romantic lyrics and choruses with powerful beats in the pop-house, tech-house and minimal techno dance genres. “Freeze” reached number 3 in MTV’s Top 10 Dance Chart, between J.Lo and Madonna. The single was later licensed to the Disco Wax label in Norway, Denmark, Finland and Sweden. A classical pianist accomplished in percussion, drums and contemporary vocals from Sofia in Bulgaria called Nadya Nedyalkova went on to become the singer-songwriter and producer known today as Anadean Sky. Still known as Nadya, Anadean Sky won talent competitions in Bulgaria with her band No Way before she moved to London to become the March 2012 winner of Snowdance’s Melange Factor. Shivali was born and brought up in the City of London but was knew her shlokas from the age of 3. Before her record deal with Sony Music BMG, Shivali had graduated in economics and philosophy and worked as a summer analyst for investment bank Goldman Sachs. She also found time to write for the Finance Times and other prominent publications. DESIRED Shivali deeply desired to bring devotional music, known as bhajans, into the mainstream and thus set out to modernise them while retaining their soulful roots. An example of this is 2010’s The Bhajan Project, an album released through Sony Music India, which is devotional songs given a contemporary feel with guitar, cello, tabla, western drum kit, strings and sitar. This 9-track album was nominated for two Global Indian Music Awards, Best Debut and Best Fusion Album. Pop facts: Johnny Roxx Johnny Roxx’s single Just Wanna Dance features Jessie James who put vocals over a beat Roxx had created in under two hours. The production, mastering and video shoot for Just Wanna Dance was finished in two weeks while James was on a tour of Switzerland. Johnny Roxx started out in 1989 as hip-hop DJ Slice before he moved on to mixing rock with house or hip hop to create the tropical sound he is known for today. Already this year, Roxx has been nominated for the Swiss Nightlife Award 2014. The biggest dancehall producers in Switzerland, Weedy G Soundforce introduced the Johnny Roxx beat to Jessie James. The first hit single by Johnny Roxx was 2013’s Big Booty Gal. Roxx produces his music with a great vocal, such as vocal sample by a Jamaican artist, to which he’ll drop the track to create his tropical feel. Johnny’s own listening and inspiration include Iron Maiden, Bob Marley and the stylings of Diplo. Just Wanna Dance features four mixes, including house from Handbandits and a mix by Doobious.
