Music Mirror reflects on Lisa Hugo’s forthcoming Christmas song

Australian jazz pop musician, Lisa Hugo, who is now a resident of the United Arab Emirates, has released a song for the season called “My Christmas Day”. Singing about love and inner discovery, Lisa pens upbeat tunes with a big voice spanning 3 octaves. She is also an accomplished pianist, actress and dancer. Born into a musical family Lisa started with piano lessons aged 6 and sang her first solo in front of 400 hundred people two years later in her hometown Melbourne, Australia. Lisa has been a regular guest singer with the Royal Australian Airforce and Army Bands and the Brussels Concert Band. She has shared the stage with many top Australian performers and been a regular performer on the television show “Good Morning Australia”. At the Dubai International Jazz Festival 2009 Lisa performed as an international act with her Belgian band alongside James Blunt, John Legend, Incognito, Peter Cincotti and Liz Wright. Music Mirror previews Mileage 51’s debut album

Dubai based Mileage 51 play blues-rock that nods to its American and British roots. Their first album Stone Unturned celebrates the classic retro sounds underpinning today’s music scene. On lead vocals and guitar is Lorne Riley Jr. Lorne is from Chapleau in Ontario in north Canada. As a student at Carleton University, Lorne played in the Blue Cotton Seals Band, where he connected with Jim Robinson, Solle Svan and Roy Bolwede and formed Dubai-based expat quartet called Stereotypes. In order to become Mileage 51, they took on new lead guitarist Doug Bernie, also on lead and backing vocals. Originally from Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada, Doug Bernie studied the Royal Conservatory curriculum on piano and moved to guitar in his early teens, as well as playing covers locally with his father on drums. Doug’s career was established in Toronto by 2002. He formed the trio Electric inspired by the vibe and energy of his heroes including Hendrix and Clapton. Electric became Toronto based blues-rock Devolver until Doug moved to Dubai and met Lorne in 2014 and joined Mileage 51. Dubai Hip Hop Group S.O.S Release The Hook Driven Single and Music Video For ‘New Chick’ S.O.S (Secrecy Over Supremacy) is a collective of four unique artists based in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. The group was originally founded by the late, Tyler Fray who died in 2013. Nigerian rapper Tyler Fray was educated in Dubai and his ethos was ‘working in silence and letting success talk’. SOS came together to keep Fray’s legacy and ethos alive. Songstress’s Voice Wows BBC Radio and Releases First Single

Samantha Durnan from the North East of England releases her first single, already praised by BBC Introducing and Radio 1 for her voice, acoustic and alternative rock band arrangements. Samantha worked on her self-titled EP containing her forthcoming single Who Would Have Thought, while on tour supporting Ed Sheeran, Kate Nash, the Hooziers and Beverley Knight. Samantha Durnan, living in the UK’s North East, started writing and playing her own songs on guitar before she knew about eye-liner. INSTRUMENTS Although she works with a backing band, Samantha is one of those people who accomplished all the instruments she wanted in her songs, which she has been writing and performing as much as she can from the earliest age. Encouraged to work hard by responses to her talent, Samantha was praised by Jen and Ally from Radio One who gave her airplay and commented “Wow, what a voice”.
