Mohammad Reza Mortazavi live in Berlin in 2013 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWSnlj-Lhjs More about Mohammad An international award-winning Iranian musician and composer is performing in Falmouth on April 26th as part of his world tour, with 25 concerts from last year’s WOMAD via Shanghai, Germany, Peking, Sweden and Cornwall.  Support Mohammad Reza Mortazavi is a traditional Persian hand drum player (Tombak & Daf) who performed at the Film Festival in Hamburg in support of Iranian film director Jafar Panahi. This Is Not a Film is a documentary by Panahi made in 2011 about his ban from working and subsequent imprisonment. Hollywood names including Steven Spielberg, Juliette Binoche and Michael Moore have also joined the cause of Project 20 to campaign for his release. In Project 20, Mohammad Reza Mortazavi plays for 20 minutes, the number reflecting the years that Panahi has been banned from working. The rhythm replays Panahi’s heartbeat recorded while he is locked away in prison, Mortazavi projects the director’s “anguish, anger and determination to break through constraints and limitations,” says the project-20.org website. Napalm Death’s Mitch Harris produces Menace to smash the boundaries of the rock genre. People who think the styles of metal and hard rock playing cannot move with the times and have no place in dance clubs may be astounded by Menace, created by Mitch Harris from Napalm Death. Collaborated The American guitarist collaborated with Mick Harris, an original member of English grindcore band Napalm Death and no relation to Mitch. In 1989 Harris joined Napalm Death to become part of the longest running line up alongside Mark “Barney” Greenway, bassist Shane Embury and drummer Danny Herrera, while none of the original members of the band remain. Instrumentalist Menace contains drummer Derek Roddy (ex-Nile, ex-Hate Eternal, Serpents Rise), current Dragonforce bassist Fred Leclercq and Napalm Death bassist Shane Embury with stringed instrumentalist Nicola Manzan. Pop facts: Johnny Roxx Johnny Roxx’s single Just Wanna Dance features Jessie James who put vocals over a beat Roxx had created in under two hours. The production, mastering and video shoot for Just Wanna Dance was finished in two weeks while James was on a tour of Switzerland. Johnny Roxx started out in 1989 as hip-hop DJ Slice before he moved on to mixing rock with house or hip hop to create the tropical sound he is known for today. Already this year, Roxx has been nominated for the Swiss Nightlife Award 2014. The biggest dancehall producers in Switzerland, Weedy G Soundforce introduced the Johnny Roxx beat to Jessie James. The first hit single by Johnny Roxx was 2013’s Big Booty Gal. Roxx produces his music with a great vocal, such as vocal sample by a Jamaican artist, to which he’ll drop the track to create his tropical feel. Johnny’s own listening and inspiration include Iron Maiden, Bob Marley and the stylings of Diplo. Just Wanna Dance features four mixes, including house from Handbandits and a mix by Doobious.
