A classical pianist accomplished in percussion, drums and contemporary vocals from Sofia in Bulgaria called Nadya Nedyalkova went on to become the singer-songwriter and producer known today as Anadean Sky. Still known as Nadya, Anadean Sky won talent competitions in Bulgaria with her band No Way before she moved to London to become the March 2012 winner of Snowdance’s Melange Factor. Anadean Sky then went on to compete in the Melange Factor final in November 2012, hosted by Channel 5 presenter Bryan Lucas. Until 2008, Boz Hayward was a punk musician who once rehearsed in rooms next door to the Happy Mondays and Oasis in the basement of Manchester’s famous Boardwalk nightclub, back in its heyday. When his bassist and close friend died, Boz turned to folk and acoustic pop to focus on his songwriting. The Bozchestra is the affectionate name for Boz’s band who accompany him on an array of instruments combining guitar, mariachi bass, violins, trumpets, keyboards, glockenspiel, the Russian domra, mandolin, dulcimer and slide guitar with percussion and drums. Frequent line-up The most frequent Bozchestra line-up are Phil Robinson on ‘guitarron’ bass, Mark Greer on slide guitar, Rick Burrows on brass, Dan Bridgwood-Hill on strings and keys and Rob Haynes on percussion and drums. Born in Hereford, Boz’s family moved around with his father’s RAF work. Boz went to Manchester Poly and based his musical operations from Manchester’s thriving Boardwalk basement rehearsal studios. James Pearce, 63, wastes no more time to launch his own career as a singer-songwriter after successful surgery to remove a brain tumour. JazFreddy Royal releases new football related charity song
Mancunian songwriter JazFreddy Royal has produced a new club anthem “Samba! Samba!” to raise money for international children’s charity UNICEF themed on the 2014 World Cup being held in Rio. The “Foe We All Miss You” singer managed to persuade Benedict Farr and Steve Oliver, managers at the National Football Museum and the manager of That’s Entertainment to support the fundraising by selling his song through their outlets. Farr says: “This is the second time, we have worked with JazFreddy, and we are impressed with his professionalism and dedication.” JazFreddy performed his single “Foe, We All Miss You” to a Manchester City Stadium packed with 48,000 fans and donated all proceeds to the late Marc Vivien Foe’s dream to build a school for young footballers in Yaoundé, Cameroon’s capital city. Before her record deal with Sony Music BMG, Shivali had graduated in economics and philosophy and worked as a summer analyst for investment bank Goldman Sachs. She also found time to write for the Finance Times and other prominent publications. Support Mohammad Reza Mortazavi is a traditional Persian hand drum player (Tombak & Daf) who performed at the Film Festival in Hamburg in support of Iranian film director Jafar Panahi. This Is Not a Film is a documentary by Panahi made in 2011 about his ban from working and subsequent imprisonment. Hollywood names including Steven Spielberg, Juliette Binoche and Michael Moore have also joined the cause of Project 20 to campaign for his release. In Project 20, Mohammad Reza Mortazavi plays for 20 minutes, the number reflecting the years that Panahi has been banned from working. People who think the styles of metal and hard rock playing cannot move with the times and have no place in dance clubs may be astounded by Menace, created by Mitch Harris from Napalm Death. Collaborated The American guitarist collaborated with Mick Harris, an original member of English grindcore band Napalm Death and no relation to Mitch. In 1989 Harris joined Napalm Death to become part of the longest running line up alongside Mark “Barney” Greenway, bassist Shane Embury and drummer Danny Herrera, while none of the original members of the band remain. Instrumentalist Menace contains drummer Derek Roddy (ex-Nile, ex-Hate Eternal, Serpents Rise), current Dragonforce bassist Fred Leclercq and Napalm Death bassist Shane Embury with stringed instrumentalist Nicola Manzan. Pop facts: Johnny Roxx Johnny Roxx’s single Just Wanna Dance features Jessie James who put vocals over a beat Roxx had created in under two hours. The production, mastering and video shoot for Just Wanna Dance was finished in two weeks while James was on a tour of Switzerland. Johnny Roxx started out in 1989 as hip-hop DJ Slice before he moved on to mixing rock with house or hip hop to create the tropical sound he is known for today. Already this year, Roxx has been nominated for the Swiss Nightlife Award 2014. The biggest dancehall producers in Switzerland, Weedy G Soundforce introduced the Johnny Roxx beat to Jessie James. The first hit single by Johnny Roxx was 2013’s Big Booty Gal. Roxx produces his music with a great vocal, such as vocal sample by a Jamaican artist, to which he’ll drop the track to create his tropical feel.
