Flirt with Danger take you on a psychedelic journey with their new release ‘The mini album’
British-based electrosurfbilly band, Flirt With Danger have released their debut album, ‘The Mini-Album’. The music is an imaginative, provocative and eclectic mix of neo-rockabilly, surf, 60s garage and proto-punk, combined with analogue synth sounds. The lyrics draw on both modern concerns and retro-futuristic imagery, very much in line with the burgeoning atompunk artistic scene. It represents a significant departure from the existing UK music scene and has already attracted considerable interest in the USA, particularly in California and Texas. The tracks were written by Les ‘Spaceman’ Rowley, the former keyboard player of South London indie rock band, Brilliant Pink, theatrical heavy metallers, Aunt May, and drum’n’bass trio, Tectonic. Mr Rowley said, “This is just a taste of a large catalogue of material that provides a refreshing alternative to a popular music scene that’s become somewhat staid and formulaic in recent years.” In true punk DIY spirit, Flirt With Danger are not signed to a record company, and the mini-album is both self-financed and self-produced. All songs were recorded in Worcester-based studio, The Space Underground and professionally mastered at Metropolis Studios. The mini-album can be heard at https://flirtwithdanger.bandcamp.com/releases The mini-album will be available through bandcamp, iTunes, Google Play, Spotify and all […]

Yellow Creatures release new E.P ‘Spectrum’
‘Spectrum’ is the third EP from Newcastle based Yellow Creatures. It follows their 2014 release ‘The Year of Everything & Nothing’ EP which saw the band being selected to play the BBC 6 Music Festival in 2015 where they were introduced by Tom Robinson. Yellow Creatures influences range from current pop and alternative artists such as Tame Impala, Solange and Radiohead to the 1960s Musique Concrete of Delia Derbyshire. After exploring a more synth-driven direction on their 2015 track ‘Calendar Man’ which was included in The Tipping Point blog and received airplay on BBC Introducing, Spectrum’ is the most developed and experimental record Yellow Creatures have released to date. The seven songs are a collage of found sounds and pop melodies incorporating field recordings, electronic beats, swelling synths and polyrhythmic drums. Lyrically ‘Spectrum’ is dreamy and pensive with frontman Marc Bird exploring themes both personal and universal. ‘Last Census’ is a frenzied pulsating prophecy of what life might be like after the last-ever census on Earth while ‘Pressing Buttons’ is a shimmering, euphoric ode to how modern technology affects our personal relationships. RETRO: Lyrics and Video Feature: Thompson Twins–Love on your side ( 80’s )
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhpwwZzUryg “Love On Your Side” I hear you laughing in some other room And it makes me feel locked out You say my passion often stifles you And you need to move about But I was taught that boys need girls and girls need boys You say that’s not true You’d rather fool around than be alone with me Well, that’s alright for you Cause you got love, love Love on your side Cause you got love, love Love on your side Cause you got love, love Love on your side Cause you got love, love Love on your side I’ve bought you sentimental roses But you gave them all away I’ve played you all my favorite records Then we spent the night in talking, talking all the time… You sent me home I was so surprised to find that after all It doesn’t hurt to be alone Cause you got love, love Love on your side Cause you got love, love Love on your side Cause you got love, love Love on your side Cause you got love, love Love on your side Well all the things you say make perfect sense to me Somehow I’m still unsure Then […]
Lyrics and Video Feature – Tom Chaplin–Quicksand
You’ll be knocked out, come around Shot down, shatter on the stony ground Yeah take it from me, it’s how it’ll be Your dreams will come true, fall through Screw you, batter you to black and blue Yeah take it from me, it’s how it’ll be Love’s gonna leave you broken Time’s gonna work you over You get up, you get up You keep rolling on Life’s gonna bring you glory But there’s another side to the story You get up and suck it up You keep rolling on But if you crashland in the quicksand I will pick you up, I’ll pull you out And if the world shakes Your brittle heart breaks We will patch it up, we’ll work it out La-la-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la-la-la We will patch it up, we’ll work it out You’ll be on track, on the rack Bounce back, wheeling down a bumpy road Yeah take it from me, it’s how it’ll be Through the good times, the sad times Oh, off you go But take it from me, whatever you need Love’s gonna leave you broken Time’s gonna work you over You get up, you get up You keep rolling on Life’s gonna bring you […]

New material from 80’s band Animotion
Earworms. You hear that catchy song once and it’s stuck in your head for the rest of the day. That’s what it was like in 1984 every time Animotion’s Obsession came on the radio. A number 6 hit in the U.S., it was the first of six singles that made the American charts between 1984 and 1989. It was at the end of the 80’s that the band broke apart. Charles Ottavio and Astrid Plane were fired during the recording of their third album and Bill Wadhams left when the record label refused to let him continue to write songs for the band. Over the years, there have been a few reunions for events and TV programs but it wasn’t until now that there has been a true reforming of the band. Wadhams and Plane along with two other original members, Don Kirkpatrick and Greg Smith, have recorded a brand new album, the first for the group since 1989’s Animotion (Room to Move) and the first that included all of these members since 1986’s Strange Behavior. The song is a powerful ballad that speaks candidly about past sins, reflecting Wills’ own personal journey of man determined to turn his life around. Mercy is the first single off London Country’s new album ‘Three Chords & The Truth’, which is set for release next year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MY5YSlXwvqg What inspired you to become a singer/songwriter ? Lady Gaga has been secretly suffering from post-traumatic stress
Lady Gaga has been secretly suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) ever since she was raped at the age of 19. The Perfect Illusion hitmaker has been candid about her sex assault since going public with the news in 2014, revealing she was attacked by a producer at the start of her music career. She has previously detailed the shame and emotional pain she struggled with after her rape ordeal, but it was only after visiting a homeless shelter for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) youths in Harlem, New York that she shared her PTSD diagnosis in public for the first time. Her recent trip to the Ali Forney Center was filmed for U.S. breakfast show Today, and in the footage, which aired on Monday (05Dec16), Gaga surprised the youngsters with gifts of clothing, make-up, and other treats, while she also performed an acoustic set and offered them her support and words of wisdom. “These children are not just homeless or in need; many of them are trauma survivors. They’ve been rejected in some type of way,” explained the singer, who runs her own Born This Way Foundation to help and empower troubled youths. “My own trauma in […]

British girl band Little Mix are currently in talks about starring in a fly-on-the-wall TV documentary. The Black Magic singers have revealed to Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper that they are in discussions for a reality program which will give viewers an “intimate look” into their lives. We really want to do a documentary as we feel people do not know much about us,” Jesy told the publication. “They know our songs and have seen us perform but they don’t know our personalities, so we would love to do a documentary… We want to get someone to follow us around on this whole tour for a whole year.” Leigh-Anne adds that the idea sounds appealing now, but she may eventually get fed up being followed by cameras all the time. However, she thinks it will be a great way for fans to get an insight into the drama […]

The Charlatans Roundhouse, Chalk Farm–Review
Formed in the West Midlands, a frontman from Cheshire and with a vast association with the Madchester scene, The Charlatans roots are somewhat confusing. But tonight, they make Camden their home. For the first time in its twenty six year history, this evening the Q awards opens its doors in Camden and mixes the fans with the musicians. It’s not everyday you catch a glimpse of The Smiths legend Johnny Marr sipping a lemonade whilst chatting with fans. In addition, to conclude the ceremony, indie icons The Charlatans perform a full headline slot. We are in for a treat. Bar a few tracks taken from last years superb ‘Modern Nature’ LP, Tim Burgess and Co take us back to the 90’s. For an hour and a quarter music becomes exciting again. Besides drawing influences from seminal bands such as New Order and Joy Division, The Charlatans still hold a refreshing, individual sound. With many tracks being dominated by keyboards and organs, embodied with deep bass lines and dance beats. It’s almost a genre of their own. Their most successful and historic LP ‘Tellin Stories’ from 1997 dictates the set. ‘With No Shoes’, ‘North Country Boy’ and the record’s […]
Phil Collins was forced to cancel a U.K. TV appearance due to a mystery illness
Phil Collins was forced to cancel a U.K. TV appearance due to a mystery illness on Tuesday morning (08Nov16). The In the Air Tonight singer was due to appear on British TV show Lorraine, which had been teased on Monday’s (07Nov16) episode, but host Lorraine Kelly ended up having to issue an apology as Phil cancelled last minute. However the musician did apologise for his absence in a video he shot in his own living room. “Hello Lorraine,” Phil told the camera. “I know you’re not very happy probably because I should be there with you rather then be sitting here. “I’m sorry I couldn’t be there Lorraine, you know we go back a long way. I’ll be there as soon as I can OK. Love to all and thanks a lot.” His cancellation came on the same day that the former Genesis star was confirmed as a headliner for 2017’s Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park (BST). It was only recently that Phil announced a string of shows across Europe next year (17) as part of his Not Dead Yet tour, though BST on 30 June (17) will mark his biggest ever solo concert and his only U.K. […]

The Kinks co-founder Dave Davies has dismissed the story do the rounds this weekend that The Kinks will reform for Glastonbury. The Sun in the UK, in its usual unconfirmed form, has blabbed that the reunion is on for 2017. The UK rag came to that conclusion after Ray Davies told them “Dave and I will definitely work together again. And we want to play live.” The tabloid claims Ray also added, “Maybe The Kinks could play Glastonbury?” Dave Davies was quick to hose the story down. “ME AND RAY have not spoken about Kinks showS at all- although weRE TRYING TO WORK TOGETHER ON OTHER STUFF and have worked on music together . In the meantime we both have albums finished. My album Open Road I did with my son Russ comes out in 2017.” The Kinks last album was 1994’s ‘To The Bone’, a collection of their greatest hits re-recorded live and acoustic. The last studio album was ‘Phobia’ in 1993. The last time The Kinks played live was 15 June 1996 in Norway. Their setlist was: 1. Till the End of the Day 2. The Hard Way 3. Gwen Stefani’s new album “saved her life”
Gwen Stefani’s new album “saved her life” following her divorce from Gavin Rossdale. The No Doubt frontwoman split from the British rocker last summer (15), after 13 years of marriage, and the couple’s divorce was finalised in April (16) – a month after she released This Is What the Truth Feels Like – and she insists the experience of writing the songs and expressing herself through music helped her cope with the pain. “It released me from that feeling of hopelessness,” she tells Glamour magazine. “When I was in the studio… it was like, ‘I need to be here right now. This is the only place I feel good. It doesn’t matter what comes out of this, as far as my career – this isn’t about a hit. It’s about saving my life’.” Gwen is now dating country singer Blake Shelton, who divorced his wife, Miranda Lambert, last year (15) and she reveals he was also a big inspiration for her while she was recording the album. “Finding somebody who was going through the exact same experience? That was an inspiration,” she says. “He was a friend to me when I needed a friend. An unexpected gift. And that became […]
Feeder live at The Roundhouse, Chalk Farm–Review
Following a four year hiatus Welsh rockers Feeder return with a new LP accompanied with a sell out tour. Still sounding as relevant as ever, ‘All Bright Electric’ is classic old school Feeder and perhaps their heaviest record to date. As 9pm approaches, Feeder take to the stage and kick off the set with new track ‘Another Day On Earth’. Next up they blare out comeback single ‘Universe Of Life’, which combines heavily distorted guitars and a melody which proves difficult to forget. With the amps seemingly on full blast, Feeder have the crowd’s attention. Following the tragic loss of original drummer Jon Lee back in 2002, understandably the band demonstrated a softer and more sombre approach to their next few records. However tonight’s set is anything but. Packed with their trademark heavy sound and not an acoustic guitar in sight. ‘Feeling A Moment’, lead single from their Pushing The Senses LP achieves an instant connection with the fans as frontman Grant Nicholas is forced to up his vocals in order to be heard. The same can be said for the title track from the same record which follows. For four minutes we are all taken back to 1997 as […]
Indie Britpop Legends Oasis to reform in 2017
So it really looks like Oasis are reforming for 2017. They just aren’t telling you. Noise11 has heard of one UK rock band from the 90s with a very close connection to Liam Gallagher may have been tapped as the opening act for some of the shows so fans could be in for the ‘ride’ of their life. The Liam and Noel Gallagher rivalry has well and truly been mended, although a public display of antagonism may work in the favour of publicity. Oasis last played together with Noel and Liam Gallagher on 22 August 2009 at the V Festival in Stafford. The final song the Gallagher’s played together was a cover of ‘I Am The Walrus’ by The Beatles. [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USDTRWdbJw0] After that the last few years has seen drama between the two siblings unseen since Alexis Colby and Krystle Carrington bitch slapped each other endlessly until Dynasty went off the air. Oasis released a 3CD 20th-anniversary edition of ‘Be Here Now’ this year. The original album featured Johnny Depp on guitar on the track ‘Fade In-Out’. The new 3CD version featured Oasis performing The Beatles ‘Help’. [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9-MdbXhQBQ] Since the break-up of Oasis Liam Gallagher has released two […]
Two Door Cinema Club–Gameshow–Album Review
Two Door Cinema Club’s second album, Beacon, was far from the difficult second record. While their 2010 debut, Tourist History, charted promisingly at #24, the lack of a direct radio hit ensured that the Country Down trio stayed something of a niche hit. However, when they returned two years later, their sound had taken on a poppier edge and they immediately exploded into the album charts, peaking at #2. Fast forward 4 years and the band return with their third studio album, Gameshow, which in the aftermath of a mammoth release has expectations to meet. With the band now stadium fillers, can they deliver a record that warrants their continued rise? Having taken time away from the trio, the band return with a renewed vigour and if their addictive sound is anything to go by, a real zest for life. While the album is an addictive, up-tempo sonic experience, lyrically the boys remain unafraid to challenge society within their lyrics. Having already proved a hit on Radio 1 with their album’s opening track and lead single, Are We Ready? (Wreck), the band are determined to move their listeners’ minds as much as their bodies. As they question consumer culture, they […]
Wills and the Willing–Dream in Colour–Review
Ian Wills has always had somewhat of a ‘revolving door policy’ on his critically acclaimed band Wills & The Willing. Each of his first two albums featured an almost entirely different line-up, including Jessie Wood (Reef), Rachel Wood (Cirque de Soleil), and guest vocals from the likes of Tom McRae., Harry Collier, & Liane Carrol. Now with a brand new line-up and a bigger, more accessible sound for his third album ‘Dream In Colour’; Wills finally believes that he has settled on a definitive band line-up and has an inspiring set of new songs that will help take the band to a much wider audience. With their brand new album “ Dream in Colour”, Wills and the Willing have crafted a timeless audio journey that flows seamlessly from song to song with stories bursting to be told. It’s spoken word with an Indie twist and tons of punk attitude. At first listen Ian Dury springs to mind but The Wills take it to a different level. The music is so epic, dreamy and laced with walls of euphoric sound it’s almost reminiscent of The Beach Boys on acid on holiday with a sonic and dreamy Beck, but then there are […]
Green Day – ‘Revolution Radio’ Review
Billie, Tre and Mike put their 2012 meltdown behind them on an album as strong as anything they’ve done since ‘American Idiot’ As falls from grace go, Green Day’s 2012 chastening was one for the ages: hubristic overreaching, self-inflicted exhaustion, an excruciating public meltdown leading to a raft of postponed tour dates and an entire trilogy of underwhelming albums that laid bare the scorched-earth extent of their burnout. What lit the match, however, may have been nothing more than a misguided surfeit of ambition. After two decades at the top of their game, Green Day seemed to believe it was no longer enough to simply be a band that released albums; they had to be a behemoth that made statements, even ones as unwieldy and confounding as ‘¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tré!’. Every great downfall deserves a redemption, however, and with ‘Revolution Radio’, Green Day now have theirs. There’ll be no Broadway musicals made of this album, no think-pieces devoted to unpicking its politics or meaning, but as a simple collection of songs, it’s as strong as anything they’ve come up with since 2004’s ‘American Idiot’. Thematically, Billie Joe Armstrong has said the album is about making sense of our chaotic times, […]
Lady Gaga – Joanne
Eight years have flown by since Lady Gaga exploded onto the international stage with her RedOne produced, Colby O’Donis featuring and RedOne/Akon co-written debut single Just Dance. Almost instantly she became one of the most talked about and sought after pop icons. As she toured the world and thrilled her Little Monsters with her message of self-belief, anthemic pop songs and thrilling outfits, Lady Gaga’s profile exploded to the point of implosion. With her third studio album, Artpop, taking her identity exploration to an extreme, many fans felt they had lost their sense of connection with their champion. Her response, sensibly, was to take a step back and re-focus her energies on her own goals. After a brief exploration of jazz standards with the legendary Tony Bennett for her fourth studio album, she returns with her long-awaited fifth studio album, Joanne, and a reported foray with country pop. First things first, Joanne may have country undertones, but this is no country album. This is Lady Gaga at her most personal and insightful. Stripping away the experimental edge that was so harshly over criticized on the actually rather compelling Artpop, Lady Gaga delivers a record that shines a light on the […]
Theatre of Hate–Westworld – Cherry Red Records (label)
In the crazy creative world of the early 1980s, there were times when several genres merged to great effect. For example, the likes of Japan developed a unique New Wave sound, using the best elements of 70s Glam with the fresher New Romantic. Other bands came and went almost as quickly as David Sylvian’s Japan, but didn’t leave the same influential soundtrack. Perhaps harshly, Theatre of Hate can be put in that latter bracket. Westworld was their only album and combined raw punk elements with a more produced, expansive, slightly self-indulgent sound. Formed after the demise of The Pack, Theatre of Hate featured the unique vocal of Kirk Brandon, alongside Stan Stammers (bass), guitarist Steve Guthrie, drummer Luke Rendle and, as if to typify the era, saxophonist John Lennard. Westworld was the band’s only album, with the follow-up never seeing the light of day before Brandon went on to form the poppier, but just as angry sounding, Spear of Destiny. At the time, the album was seen by some fans as a disappointment. Produced by The Clash’s Mick Jones, it came after several independent singles that had created a buzz, as well as raucous live shows. The album though lacked […]

Wills and the Willing–Dream in Colour
Ian Wills has always had somewhat of a ‘revolving door policy’ on his critically acclaimed band Wills & The Willing. Each of his first two albums featured an almost entirely different line-up, including Jessie Wood (Reef), Rachel Wood (Cirque de Soleil), and guest vocals from the likes of Tom McRae., Harry Collier, & Liane Carrol. Now with a brand new line-up and a bigger, more accessible sound for his third album ‘Dream In Colour’; Wills finally believes that he has settled on a definitive band line-up and has an inspiring set of new songs that will help take the band to a much wider audience. https://soundcloud.com/user-17894197/sets/dream-in-colour/s-NihUA “BUTTERFLIES” Inspired by the town of Wotton Bassett and the tearful repatriations, the first single ‘Butterflies’ relies heavily on the musical skills of new full-time ‘Willing’ members Sean Genockey , Charlie Morton and John Hogg (Moke, Rich Robinson, Roger Daltrey). You can not fail to be moved by the cinematic tear stained lyrics that comes from the sword like pen of Wills, coupled with its soaring chorus and emotive production. “DREAM IN COLOUR” In September of 2012, Ian , Sean , Charlie & John started working on the third Wills & The […]

Introducing Volpi: when two lovers made some art and music together. The creature was born on the sun-baked Italian streets of Bologna when an English boy and an Italian girl decided to make some sweet music together. Already featured as the BBC introducing track of the day, Volpi are now ready to unleash a series of singles this summer, each with its own Volpi-produced video featuring graphics by the fair hand of Selene! Tom from Volpi says ” My dear old Mum Wendy died early this year from lung cancer after a dignified and very brave fight. Whilst at home for 6 months caring for Mum with my Dad, I wrote an album of music during the evenings and nights: partly as a distraction, and partly to try and remind me of some of the beautiful, positive things life has to offer – in this case, Music. Together with my partner in kryme, Selene, we hope that through something so painful can come something positive and hopeful, especially in a world which is currently so […]

Lady Gaga’s new single hints at the end of her romance with actor Taylor Kinney. The U.S. superstar has returned to the pop world with Perfect Illusion, her first solo track in three years. Gaga and actor Kinney ended their engagement after five years together in July (16). The singer made her long-awaited comeback on Friday after a three-year absence from making solo music, dropping her new song and performing a secret set in a tiny North London venue. Her new song references a failed romance in the chorus hook: “It wasn’t love, it wasn’t love, it was a perfect illusion,” but Gaga explains while part of the song is about the type of love she has experienced, it’s not just about her personal romance. “It is about love. Of course it is,” the singer explained in an interview with The Sun newspaper. “It is about all kinds of relationships, every kind of love in your life and mine. “And I think it’s both sides – it’s not really from the woman’s perspective this song – it was important to me that men, when they heard this song, felt connected to women even though the song is essentially about a […]

Jude Jeyaraj–Yesterdays
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tuh3TtNiCmg] Jude Jeyaraj cannot identify himself with any one particular style of music. In his own words “Eastern music (and ragas) offer a spirituality that just cannot be found in Western music.” as a result his music is very diverse. Born on 18th September 1978 Jude spent his early years in the small town of Jaffna in North-eastern Sri Lanka. Whether running down its long sandy beach chasing between the houses with his cousins and friends or simply sitting alone on the lush green banks of one of the many rivers that sliced through the countryside the young Jude felt that his home was a magical place. At the age of five Jude’s father bought him a small percussion instrument called a mealam. He took it everywhere and was constantly playing so much so that he fractured a finger and had to visit the hospital. To this day a crooked digit bears witness to his early passion for creating sound. Jude himself finds it hard to explain where this passion came from. Perhaps he has mused the incredible array of sounds around him at this impressionable age; the babbling rivers the chatter and shrieking of children the crashing […]
Katy Perry stunned a survivor of the Orlando, Florida nightclub massacre
Katy Perry stunned a survivor of the Orlando, Florida nightclub massacre by surprising him with a TV appearance. Tony Marrero, who was partying at the Pulse nightclub in June (16) when a gunman opened fire, painfully recreated the moment he realised his life and those of his friends were at risk in a video he shot for The Ellen DeGeneres Show. He said, “It was horrible. (There were) people screaming and crying, people saying their goodbyes.” The TV host, who admitted she “sobbed for 15 hours” after learning about the events at the gay club, invited Marrero onto her show and then surprised him by introducing him to Perry, whose 2016 song Rise helped him as he recovered from his injuries. Tony was shot in the back four times and ‘died’ on his way to hospital. He was later revived. His best friend Luis was killed. Ellen asked Marrero if he had ever met Katy and when she stepped out into the studio, all three began to cry. “We’re both electrified by each other and so inspired,” Perry said after hugging her fan. She then fought back tears as Marrero thanked her for her “powerful” music and told her how […]
