British-American trio Raynes started recording their new album ‘Set Fire to the Foxes’ largely in isolation

Signing with Sony Music Publishing less than a year after their inception, British-American trio Raynes formed in 2017 and have since released three singles that have earned them features in Billboard, Earmilk, and Atwood Magazine, among many other publications. Now, their singular blend of folk, pop, and world music is being featured on television shows, commercials, and tastemakers’ playlists, generating buzz in the UK and the US alike. Mat Charley and Joe Berger, both born and raised in North Dakota, met in college, where Mat, a producer and multi-instrumentalist was usually skipping class to write songs. Before long, the two had recorded a handful of demos and realized that the songs were good enough to build a band around. Knowing that they would need a strong vocalist, they took to the internet to find the missing piece of their project. After months of searching, they finally struck gold when they came across a video of Mark Race, a native of Durham, UK. The trio’s differences have proven to be a winning combination. As Raynes, they combine their diverse influences to form a group whose taste spans the globe, incorporating elements of folk, Americana, and baroque pop with Celtic and world […]

With evidently powerful religious roots, Phaze3 delivers a veritable tour de force through just 11 songs in her new album “A Warrior’s Call”

Do you know Phaze3? If you don’t, you should, because you don’t know what you’re missing. It’s okay, I don’t blame you, I wasn’t aware of this wonderfully talented artist, either, until I heard her latest musical offering, her recently released Gospel album, entitled “A Warrior’s Call”. With evidently powerful religious roots, Phaze3 installs herself into your speakers and into your home and delivers a veritable tour de force through just 11 songs. Rather than simply qualifying as a musical album, “A Warrior’s Call” is a spectacle of faith, light, and ultimately hope. It’s definitely what you want to be listening to if you’re feeling a bit low because if there is one artist who has the power to pull you out of that, it’s Phaze3. Coming at you as she does from a long career as a ministry worker, spiritual healer, and religious leader, Phaze3 delivers a beautiful, highly melodious album that speaks overtly of God, but also on a much deeper and more personal level, of your own personal faith. It is a masterful album in the sense that it delivers one solid track after another and offers healing and strength. The first tune I heard off of […]

After nearly dying in Bali, Cami Galles drops new album ‘Correlated’

Cami Galles has known since the age of 4 she was here to sing. Yet, over the years, she’s succumbed to her own fears and yielded to the misguided directions of others. In December 2018, while in Bali, Cami nearly died, and from her hospital bed the Chicago-based artist vowed if she survived she would finally release her debut album. On October 15th, she keeps that promise and issues her first-ever album, Correlated. The 8-song record will be available for digital sale, download and streaming worldwide on Spotify, Apple, GooglePlay, Amazon and 102 other digital platforms. “In this life, we arrive and leave with our selves. Everything we have and do point back to our relationship with ourselves,” Cami shares. “This album tells an evolutionary story about my past relationships, and how I learned to prioritize my relationship with myself.” For years, Cami has dazzled audiences in New York and the Midwest with her invigorating “future blues” aesthetic—a singular melding of blues, pop, jazz, enlightened and empowered lyrics, and uptempo dance beats. Now, her inaugural solo release proves her to be a masterful songwriter, producer, and singer. Correlated documents a triumphant rise of the authentic self, and it’s threaded with […]

Entertaining The band’s sound is entertaining with a hard rock edge or, in their own words: “Kamikaze Test Pilots is, as the name suggests, a contradiction: a no-rules, non-conforming suicidal mesh of influences and a sound that reinvents itself with each new song”. Kamikaze Test Pilots deliver a powerful rock sound with melodic vocals, chugging rhythm, guitars and searing solos that have already been played on BBC Introducing, Total Rock, Rock Radio Germany and Amazing Rock. What the press say: Metal Hammer – “A grooving and soulful approach to hard rock that’s aggressive and odd”. Big Chees – “Totally bat shit crazy and I love it” […]

When his bassist and close friend died, Boz turned to folk and acoustic pop to focus on his songwriting. The Bozchestra is the affectionate name for Boz’s band who accompany him on an array of instruments combining guitar, mariachi bass, violins, trumpets, keyboards, glockenspiel, the Russian domra, mandolin, dulcimer and slide guitar with percussion and drums. Frequent line-up The most frequent Bozchestra line-up are Phil Robinson on ‘guitarron’ bass, Mark Greer on slide guitar, Rick Burrows on brass, Dan Bridgwood-Hill on strings and keys and Rob Haynes on percussion and drums. Born in Hereford, Boz’s family moved around with his father’s RAF work. Boz went to Manchester Poly and based his musical operations from Manchester’s thriving Boardwalk basement rehearsal studios. Not one to refuse a “crooner” set with a piano, Boz also composes instrumentals and film music, which lead to his Shortscores album in 2013. Boz composes for himself with the Bozchestra, although his creative output is constant and he has song material to spare for other performers. […]
